In this online demonstration, you will learn the fundamentals of boxmaking and how to create a perfectly fitting slipcase. Mylyn will talk you through how to measure a book accurately, measure, cut and line boards before assembling the structure. She will then guide you on how to cut the covering material to wrap the box neatly in either full cloth or quarter style. Mylyn will deliver step by step instruction through demonstration giving you the skills to make your own at home

Mylyn McColl
has been a professional bookbinder and box maker for 20 years. She gained a BA in Graphic Design at KIAD before studying fine binding at City Lit and Studio 5 and honed her craft within various trade binderies across the UK. She is an active member within the bookbinding community and ran the Society of Bookbinders International Competition for many years.
Mylyn now works from her small bindery in Wiltshire splitting her time between making and restoring beautiful books and boxes and teaching. She is Principal Tutor for the charity Bound by Veterans, she teaches to City & Guilds standards at a variety of venues as well as providing online tuition.
