The London and South region was founded in 1980 and its area covers London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hampshire, Kent, South Oxfordshire, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
We are the largest Region, with the most members in the UK. We meet on a monthly basis in central London where there are good transport links to most parts of our Region. Please do check for planned engineering works on your route and let us know at the earliest opportunity if you are unable to make it; we are often oversubscribed and have a waiting list.
- Practical Workshops are normally £20 for members and £25 for non-members (plus materials fee where required)
- Visits, Demonstrations & Talks are normally £15 members and £20 for non-members
- Christmas Meeting (includes Suppliers Fair plus a Buffet Lunch) is £10
- NB:Please check individual listings for exact cost of each event.
AUTUMN 2020 EVENTS CANCELLED
Dear Members,
The London and South Committee has decided, with approval from our National Council, to postpone all events for Autumn 2020 and plans to move events to Spring 2021. We have recently discussed this change as a committee and feel that this is the safest and best decision in regards to our members. We have concerns that many members would need to travel long distances to attend our events on potentially crowded transport services. Even if members drive, there is limited parking at our venue and, therefore, not a viable option for many. Workshops will be difficult to run at a distance due to their hands-on nature. Venues for our visits may not be able to accommodate groups in often small enclosed spaces and many have not yet reached decisions about when staff are to return.
We have reached this decision now as we do not wish to cancel closer to the date of these events. The committee is discussing rescheduling, with venues and instructors, and aims to have a full schedule of events for Spring 2021 to make up for the misfortunes of 2020. We are pleased that our National Council supports this decision, by the London and South Committee as being in the best interests of our members.
The L&S Committee hopes that all members continue to stay safe and healthy. We will share information about the Spring 2021 schedule as soon as it is available. We look forward to seeing you again when it is safe to do so.
Best wishes,
Talitha Wachtelborn
Chair, L&S Committee
