The East Midland region runs several workshops every year in addition to a varied programme of visiting speakers and demonstrators. The workshops are designed to address basic training needs and to introduce elements of design, finishing and decoration. We also have outings to specific venues (libraries, archives, etc.). Talks and demonstrations are free for members and £5 for non-members, £2.50 for students and under 18s.  Workshop costs are announced separately.

Meetings take place at various venues around Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.

The Branch also contributes to the John Hopkins Memorial Library, maintained by the Leicester Bookbinding Group. Under arrangements made with the LBG members of the Branch can borrow books from the Library, subject to a small administration fee.

John Hawkins Memorial Library

The John Hawkins Memorial Library was established by Rosemary Hawkins in the memory of her late husband Dr John Hawkins with the donation of his collection of books and magazines on bookbinding and related subjects to the Leicester Bookbinding Group. The LBG has since received donations of books from other sources and has taken over the management of the small collection of books held by the Region. In return for the support of the Region with the cost of running the Library, the LBG makes the Library available to members of the Region. Books may be borrowed from the Library through application to the librarian. For details of the library and to make a booking please refer to the Library web pages.
