Conserve, repair, re-cover old books with or without old covers using the Carmencho Arregui and alternative non-adhesive methods of sewing. Using traditional bookbinding craft skills you’ll learn how to carefully dismantle an old book, repair any torn pages within and create a new cover for it using a combination of materials such as acid free linings, the Dutch Papiermolen acid free cotton rag paper for covers and paste papers for dust jackets if needed.
Please bring 5–10 books from which to choose from so that the most appropriate one to be worked on can be discussed with the tutor on the day. Each book is unique and therefore the treatment will vary depending on the need. Those without books may use blank paper to create a sample book instead.
All tools will be provided.
