Midlands
Midlands region stretches from the borders of Wales to the North Sea and from the Humber to close to the Severn.
The East and West Midlands regions merged in 2022 to form the new Midlands region which stretches from the borders of Wales to the North Sea and from the Humber to close to the Severn.
The region currently holds 6 workshops a year, including a 2-day workshop allowing for a more in-depth project. Our meetings are held centrally in the region at one of our regular venues at Hampton-in-Arden Scout HQ near Solihull or at Leek Wooton Village Hall near Warwick. We also try to run workshops in other locations less centrally in the region where we have groupings of members. We have held a workshop in Malvern and Leicester utilising the excellent facilities provided by Leicester Print Workshop in the centre of the city.
Our AGM takes place in March with a speaker, show and tell and an opportunity to eat and socialise together. Our Members’ meeting is usually in November also featuring a speaker, show and tell as well as other activities — and as ever food and good conversation features! We undertake a visit to place of interest yearly followed by a break over July and August to allow for members to travel and holiday as well as attend the SoB Conference/Seminar in August.
Our newsletter, Forwarding the Signature, remains in paper form and is received by members twice a year through the post.
We are happy to have members from other regions attend our workshops as we wish to allow SoB members to make the most of bookbinding opportunities and keep the region vibrant and interesting.
