Childrens bookbinding workshops
Newcastle Central Library has asked NE Regional Group to provide a workshop for primary school age children (aged 7 to 11) during the autumn half term holiday. As before the plan is to provide two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, during which children will be able to bind a simple notebook to take away with them. We will provide small blank book blocks with the spines already glued as sewing will not be feasible. The children will choose from materials provided and be shown how to make and attach the case. Each child’s name will then be tooled in gold foil by one of our binders onto a label which they can then glue onto their binding.
The workshop will be advertised to local schools by Newcastle Central Library.
Several of our members who volunteered last time have kindly done so again. However, we would welcome some more volunteers to join us in providing tuition to children who will be in very small groups of two or three, often together with their parents.
Anyone who like to participate or would like more information should contact Paul Smith by email: email@example.com
