Workshop: Victoria Hall – Suminagshi
Suminagashi, literally meaning floating ink, is
believed to be the earliest form of marbling with examples known to
have been produced in Japan in the 12th century. Ink is floated on
plain water to create soft, flowing lines which can then be captured
on paper. Students will learn how to grind their own ink from solid
ink sticks & be able to take many sheets away for later use. Papers
produced using this technique offer a subtle alternative to the vibrancy
of more traditional marbling methods.
10.00am – 4.00pm
Cost: £25 plus £10 for materials
Max attendance: 12
Please note that this workshop is now full. Names
