NANCY WINFIELD & MARK HORNE

Nancy and Mark have worked together since January 2000 under the collective name Salisbury Bookbinders. Their method of collaboration, both in the design and creation of fine bindings, means that even they could not tell you who was responsible for what.

Both trained at Guildford College and worked in different binderies before moving first to Salisbury and then to Carmarthenshire.

Holy Bible

Full leather binding in green goatskin tooled in gold with abstract cross on front board, leather jointed endpapers, solid edge gilding on all three edges

Each section is individually sewn with loops at each station through which leather cord is threaded. The cord then runs through the boards from joint to foredge where it is tied to keep the structure tight.

All edges hand gilded and the title tooled in gold on loose vellum spine. Bone clasps and jasper beads in the brass lined holes add a decorative touch to the beech boards.
