INTRODUCTION

The Society of Bookbinders’ sixteenth biennial Education & Training Conference will be held at the University of York from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th August 2007.

The University of York was founded in 1963 with 200 students. Since then, it has expanded to 10,000 students and has over thirty academic departments and research centres. The Heslington campus is compact and only two miles from the centre of a city unusually rich in history. York Minster is the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe and surrounding it are the best preserved medieval streets in Britain.

The part of the University campus where the conference will be held is on one level. The distance between the accommodation and the lecture rooms is about 200 metres, with the restaurant situated in between. There are several bedrooms equipped to assist those with mobility problems.

We look forward to welcoming members and non-members to what we are confident will be one of our most successful conferences to date.
